Hi, My daughter has had pcos for a few years, she has tried bc pills, but still was losing hair, is there a complete multi vitamin to help with pcos symptoms.
PCOS or Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome is characterized by
several symptoms including insulin resistance, elevated testosterone levels and
poly cystic ovaries. The symptoms your daughter is experiencing are
mostly related to the excess testosterone being produced in her body; as this
commonly causes thinning hair and other male hair growth patterns.

A good quality multi-vitamin is important for her, but it will not address the
testosterone levels, therefore she will see little difference with her hair
Using herbal compounds like Saw Palmetto and Stinging Nettle, that modulated
testosterone levels in the body may be a more useful strategy for managing some
of her symptoms. In addition zinc is very important to metabolize
testosterone and may further support hair growth.
Another very important strategy for her to consider is the proper management of
blood sugar. Her diet should be focused on high quality protein such as
chicken, turkey and fish and also be high in nutritious vegetables like
broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, kale, chard and other dark leafy greens.
She must also avoid high carbohydrate foods and simple sugars as these will
only worsen the insulin resistance. This type of diet will modulate the
blood sugar levels and control insulin which can improve her overall hormone
balance. To further aid this process it is worthwhile to consider using
some type of blood sugar support formula, taken just before each meal.
