Inositol is the common name of myoinositol and is part of the Vitamin B complex, commonly referred to as Vitamin B8. Inositol is easily absorbed and is utilized to produce the active inositides. All the forms of inositol (phosphatidylinositol and inositides, e.g., IP3) actively participate in communication between cells, including the function of nerve impulses. Inositol is contained in all tissue, but it is found in the brain, liver and muscles in its highest concentration. Studies have shown that it may play a role in limiting feelings of depression. Inositol provides an indirect source of glucose and glucuronic acid, which is essential to detoxification by the liver. Inositol by Jarrow Formulas is made from rice and is formulated in Japan by Tsuno Rice Company.
