A small herb resembling a buttercup and native to the North American continent, black cohosh has a history of use for women’s health issues dating back to Native Americans. Today it finds widespread usage for gynecological issues from menstruation to menopause. It is particularly useful for menopausal symptoms due to its estrogenic effect on the body.
Although the mechanism black cohosh uses is not fully understood, researchers have identified several key ingredients believed to be responsible for its effect on the female reproductive system. Black cohosh contains two compounds, actein and cimifugoside, which scientists believe play an active role as natural estrogen-like substances in the body.
Our liquid herbal extracts are made with organically grown and wild harvested plants of the highest quality. Each fresh or recently dried herb is individually extracted through cold percolation or maceration using the purest de-ionized water. Due to the possible estrogenic effects of black cohosh, women with a personal or family history of breast cancer may wish to avoid using black cohosh until research further delineates the effect on breast tissue.
Suggested Use: Take 45-50 drops in liquid three (3) times daily, or as needed. Shake well before using. Do not take during pregnancy.
