- Improves fat absorption.
- Improves overall nutritional status.
- Helps digest fat.
Bile Acid Factors™ contains a blend of highly concentrated bile acids (or “bile salts”) that are crucial for fat digestion and absorption. The major bile components in Bile Acid Factors are glycocholate and taurocholate. They are found mostly in the conjugated form from U.S. and/or New Zealand bovine/ovine bile.
In the human body, bile acids are produced in the liver and stored and concentrated in the gallbladder, from which they enter the small intestines via the bile duct.
Bile acids emulsify fats in the small intestine to aid their absorption. Bile acid deficiency results in fat malabsorption and fatty stools (steatorrhea), as designated by diarrhea and floating stools. In addition, a person with bile acid deficiency suffers from a jeopardized nutritional status because their absorption of fat and fat-soluble nutrients is diminished.
Conjugated bile acids, those found in Bile Acid Factors™, have been shown in scientific trials to be effective in aiding fat absorption and, consequently, nutritional status.
