History and Usage:

Rose Bulgaria, an essential oil with an exceptionally broad range of uses, is derived from the petals of Rosa damascena, or the damask rose. Bulgaria is one of the few places in the world where flowers of sufficient quality and fragrance are cultivated in order to produce this high-quality oil. The scent of this particular variety of rose is tremendously complex (containing more than 300 chemical compounds). It is also emphatically feminine and, in aromatherapy, it is employed to treat many ailments, including PMS and the symptoms of menopause. Calming and balancing, it alleviates feelings of tension, irritation and depression. Rose Bulgaria oil topically applied has a softening effect. It also reduces inflammation and, as an astringent, tones the skin.
