Bilberries come from a low-growing shrub of the Ericaceae Vaccinium family. It acts as an antihistamine and has potential for the treatment of pigmentary retinitis.

Preliminary evidence suggests that bilberries may have a reversing effect on certain eye disorders, e.g., macular degeneration. Bilberries, which also contain magnesium stearate, are also associated with night vision improvement.
