History and Usage:

Fatty acids were originally known as Vitamin F, when they were first discovered in 1923. Essential fatty acids can only be obtained from the diet. The body cannot create omega-3 but may be able to convert one omega-3 to another omega-3. However, since this process is insufficient, many dietary experts have concluded that Omega 3 EPA and DHA need to be taken in through the diet.

Fatty acids perform functions relating to inflammation, behavior, cellular signaling, and human metabolism. Low fatty acid levels in the body may also lead to osteoporosis. Fatty acids also help during critical stages of life, like lactation. The fatty acids used in Omega-3 by Natrol are derived from marine and grain sources. They are hexane free.
