Feverfew (Tanacetum parthenium) is a member of the sunflower family and has been used for centuries in Europe to provide relief for headaches, arthritis and fever. Its name comes from its use as a febrifuge, from the Latin febrifugia, indicating its fever-reducing action.
Feverfew became popular in the mid-1980’s in Great Britain as an alternative treatment for migraine headaches. Subsequent studies have confirmed that as high as 70% of migraine sufferers experience substantial relief after consistent use of Feverfew. It appears to be most effective when used as a preventative over time. Used this way, sufferers saw a 24% reduction in the frequency, duration and severity of migraine headaches and nausea and vomiting which frequently accompany the headache. Feverfew appears to inhibit serotonin and histamine which cause blood vessels to dilate. Additional research has shown Feverfew to inhibit the production of leukotines and other inflammatory substances making it effective in helping to relieve the pain and inflammation of arthritis, alleviating hay fever, asthma, and other allergy symptoms. Feverfew may relieve depression, promote restful sleep and ease the nerve pain of sciatica.
The active compounds in Feverfew include sesquiterpene lactones, predominately parthenolide. Our Feverfew is grown organically in the rich soil of the Galilean farmlands in Israel. In this region its growth is carefully monitored through a unique state-of-the-art cultivation technology to ensure the leaves contain the highest concentration of naturally occurring parthenolide. Suggested Use: As a dietary supplement, adults take one (1) capsule daily at meal time, or as directed by a health care professional. Store in a cool, dry place and away from direct light.
