Biotin (also known as vitamin H) is a water-soluble B-complex vitamin generally found in liver, egg yolk, cereals, legumes and nuts. Biologically, biotin is found in the brain, liver and muscle tissue and is utilized to synthesize intracellular carboxylase enzymes.
Biotin is essential for normal skin, hair, and cell growth and for the body’s production of fatty acids and the metabolism of fats and amino acids. Biotin is also helpful in maintaining a steady blood sugar level. Various carboxylase enzymes play a vital role in lipid metabolism and energy production (ATP) through synthesis of oxaloacetate. Alcohol hinders the presence and function of biotin in the body.
Prolonged antibiotic use may limit biotin production in the intestine and increase the risk of deficiency symptoms, such as dermatitis, depression, hair loss, anemia, and nausea.
Suggested Use: Take 1 capsule per day with a meal, or as directed by your qualified health consultant.
