History and Usage:

Niacinamide is the form of niacin that is found naturally circulating in the blood. Niacinamide is the form used by the body to produce two active forms of niacin: Nicotinamide Adenin Dinucleotide (NAD) and Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide phosphate (NADP). NAD and NADP are needed for the functioning of more than 200 enzymes and they initiate synthesis of energy in the form of ATP, as they serve as electron acceptors or hydrogen donors in the body. NAD is also important for the regeneration of glutathione and activating folate. Niacinamide are essential for all the tissues of the body for synthesizing NAD and NADP.

Niacinamide and niacin are categorized as forms of Vitamin B3. Niacinamide does not cause any type of irritation of the skin or flushing commonly associated with niacin.
