About
Paget's Disease of Bone is a condition that occurs when bones fall apart and new, weaker bones are formed in their place. Deformities, pain, arthritis, and fractures often accompany this disease.

- Some people with Paget's Disease do not have any symptoms, while others do. The following drugs may be beneficial in treatment for Paget's Disease: analgesics, calcitonin, etidronate, diphosphanates, fluoride, and plicamycin.

Advice
- An enzyme in papaya and pineapple can ease inflammation.
- Barley grass and kelp provide needed minerals for the bones.
- Do not put undue stress on bones.
- Ease pain with heat lamps, hot compresses, and hot soaks.
- Eating calcium-rich foods is important. Brewer's yeast, seafood, tofu, sardines, whey, yogurt, buttermilk, goat's milk, carob, leafy greens, and salmon with the bones are good sources of calcium.
- Garlic helps improve circulation and eases inflammation.
- Make sure your home is safe. Put up handrails where necessary and make sure floors are open and trip-free.
- Potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, cayenne peppers, sweet peppers, chili peppers, paprika, pimiento, and other nightshade vegetables should be avoided as they have a negative effect on metabolism of calcium.
- Talk to your doctor to figure out an exercise program that is right for you.
- To decrease the chance of spinal deformities, make sure you have a firm mattress or bed board.
- Visit your doctor regularly to monitor for bone cancer or other disorders. Hearing aids can be helpful when hearing loss takes place.
- When experiencing flare-ups, stay in bed, rotating often to keep from getting sores.
