Worms

About

Roundworms (ascarids, hookworms, pinworms, and threadworms) and tapeworms are the most well-known types of worms. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Some tapeworms can be up to 30 feet long. Some worms will be expelled in one's stool, while others may cause health problems.

Notes

  • Ascarids come through food that has not been cooked or handled properly, or from the soil.
  • Hookworms and threadworms can get into your body by your feet or in the water you consume.
  • If one person in a family has worms, the other family members should be treated in case of infection.
  • Include a lot of iron and protein in your diet.
  • Personal hygiene, poor sanitation, and unacceptable food handling all may contribute to parasitic infection.
  • Pinworms are spread by fingers touching affected areas and then touching something or someone else.
  • Prescription medications are used to help with worms. Anal itching can be alleviated by creams and ointments.
  • Some sushi can be contaminated with a clear worm called an anisakis. A good sushi chef will catch this before it is served.
  • Tapeworms come from beef, fish, or pork that has not been cooked properly. Fleas or lice that are accidentally swallowed may also bring about tapeworms.

Advice

  • A good three-day treatment is as follows: Each day bathe in warm water mixed with Epsom salts (1/2 cup salt per gallon of water). Placing zinc oxide at the anal opening before getting into the bath will enhance the effects of this treatment.
  • Be sure you are getting enough liquids.
  • Bitter melon helps get rid of pinworms and boosts the immune system. For seven to ten days, consume one to two melons per day.
  • Consider high colonics, or colonic irrigation. Ask your doctor if this is a good treatment option for you. It is usually used for severe cases. If this is not an option, perform a colon cleanse.
  • Consume only steam-distilled or filtered water.
  • Disinfect anything that touches raw pork, fish, or meat.
  • If you develop tapeworms, eat only raw pineapple for three days. Tapeworms are killed by the bromelain in pineapples.
  • Keep your shoes on in dirty places.
  • Keep yourself clean. Refrain from scratching the anus. Wash your hands often with soap that kills bacteria. Pay special attention to your fingernails, especially underneath them.
  • On an empty stomach, take pumpkin seeds, figs/fig juice, and sesame seeds three times daily.
  • Only eat meat that has been fully cooked and has not been exposed to room temperature for too long.
  • Papaya juice is recommended.
  • Pet cats and dogs should be examined immediately when you get them. It is also a good idea to get them checked twice a year - fall and spring.
  • Raw vegetables and whole grains provide needed fiber.
  • Refrain from eating sugar, fruits other than figs and pineapples, refined carbohydrates, and pork.
  • Towels, bed linens, and underwear should be changed and washed in hot water and chlorine every day.
