Pellagra
About
Pellagra is caused by a lack of niacin in the body. Those who ate untreated corn were most likely to develop it. The stages of pellagra are diarrhea, dermatitis, dementia, and eventually death if untreated. Niacin is necessary for the body to function properly. When niacin is lacking, eventually the organs will begin to fail, and result in eventual death.
